Before taking a big bag of newspaper to the recycling bin, I went through the last two months of Sundays and cut out a whole pile of headlines. I arranged some of them without regard to order on a recycled art card of mine and I found the result seemed to fit the mood of these chaotic and uncertain times. I hope everyone is staying safe and sane wherever you are.

I’ve been cutting up my newspapers too. They are speaking rather loudly these days. (K)

Yes, they are. These ones didn’t want to go to the recycling bin without a last word…

I see this as voices fighting to make sense of the incomprehensible. Fragments of meaning we are trying to put together.

Yes – exactly – every day the news seems to be a blur that doesn’t quite focus.

You have a real gift for creating these art collages. The overall effect on me is like a screenplay for a movie. Your draftsmanship and sense of design, though, make them real works of art. They also reward repeated viewing because many things seem ambiguous at first. Great job!

Thank you, John! I was experimenting with some different coatings on the card – and so I’m glad the art still came through!
