Original Poetry

Double Original Friday – Motto of the Grand Old Order of Molluscs and Chelonii

This poem is an answer to a haiku challenge from RonovanWrites to use the words “Turtle” and “Snail” in a haiku. Well, I took the challenge, but interpreted it loosely – their scientific names made it into the title! Poem, photograph (of the General Grant tree in Sequoia National Forest), and composition by me. Happy Friday!

Double Original Friday – Evidence

Haiku and collage by me. The “bodies” of the radishes are from the Hubble Space Telescope’s Wide Field and Planetary Camera 2 and are titled “Northern Summer on Mars” – which is fairly poetic all by itself. The rest of the collage is made up of images from other NASA press releases. Happy Friday!

Double Original Friday – To Paul Bäumer, With Love

Happy Friday! I recently finished reading All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich Maria Remarque (it was on the list of “Classics I never read in high school or college”) and learned why it is considered such a classic. Photos (of the monolithic but unnamed building across the street from the Boston Convention and Exhibit Center), poem, and composition by me.
